The day of your wedding can be a long drawn out day for everyone involved, especially the immediate families. There’s a lot going on during the day, and many people are just waiting for the reception to begin, especially the happy couple.
The reception is where the bride and groom thank everyone for sharing their celebration of marriage together. And as wonderful and memorable as receptions are, they are usually the most expensive part of weddings. By saving money on your reception you can use the extra funds for…more party!
So with that, here are a few simple and easy to do ideas that will enhance your wedding reception and maybe save you some money in the process.
The single biggest expense in having a reception is the location you’re going to have it at. Usually, the best way to save funds here is to scout around your local area well in advance and compare costs. Sometimes you can save pretty well from high school gyms and local community centers.
But the best locations to hold wedding receptions are always the free or at least cheap ones. Talk to your friends or relatives and check some of their properties. Do you have an uncle with a large well cared for yard that you may be able to take advantage of ???? Ask him.
Once you’ve taken care of where your wedding reception is going to be held, you may want to think of the color scheme you are going to use and start coordinating your decorations and other designs.
By thinking about what kind of color scheme you’re going to use, you can save money and time as well as provide an air of elegance at the same time. Table clothes and flowers in the same color will help create some of that elegant space for little money. A nice touch is if you are able to have your bridesmaids dresses match the table cloths and flowers as well.
Being creative with the use of Light is another sneaky way to add a touch of class and personalization to a rented space. If your reception will be outside, try placing lanterns on hooks around trees. The light from the lantern will put you in a warm romantic relaxing mood.
To avoid possible fire hazards like a gas filled lantern would provide, you can try the small solar powered light lawn ornaments sold in many hardware stores. Just try and stick to non-flammable lighting materials as much as possible. One thing you certainly do not want is a fire on your wedding day.
If your wedding is being held indoors, you can take the same lighting concept with you. Except for lanterns, try using color matched large candles instead. You can even find try stringing up Christmas Tree LED lights around the room or above the dance floor for a joyous relaxing evening.
Try thinking up ways you can come up with ways to decorate your wedding reception and save a lot of money well ahead of your wedding day. If you have any other ideas you can save some cash for a wedding, let me know below.
